Moving your MobileSheets library to Setliner™

Export, import, and what to check afterwards.

Setliner™ is built around editable chord charts. If most of your MobileSheets library is ChordPro or text charts, this guide shows how to move it and what to check. Setliner™ is not on iPhone or iPad yet.

Export from MobileSheets

  1. Select the songs (long press one in the library, then tap the rest).
  2. Tap Share > Export files and pick a folder on your device.
  3. For songs made of a single file, turn on Use song titles as file names, so each exported file is named after its song.
  4. Turn off Share with annotations for ChordPro and text songs. With it on, a song that has annotations is exported as a new PDF instead of its original text file.
  5. Copy the folder to the computer running Setliner™.

Keep a full backup too: Settings > Backup and Restore > Backup Library makes a .msb file. Setliner™ can’t read .msb or .msf files; this is your safety copy.

Import into Setliner™

  1. In the Library, choose Import.
  2. Select the exported files. You can pick many at once; there is no whole-folder import.
  3. Setliner™ reads .cho, .pro, .chopro, .txt and .pdf.
  4. For each PDF, choose:
    • Convert: Setliner™ reads the words and chords out of the PDF and makes an editable chart titled “(PDF conversion)”. Chord placement is a best effort; read it through before you play from it.
    • Keep it as a PDF: the song is the PDF itself, titled “(PDF)”. It shows in the viewer and you can annotate it, but it can’t be edited or transposed.
  5. Rebuild your setlists in Setliner™’s setlist builder.

What comes across / what to check

  • ChordPro files: title, artist, key, capo, tempo, time, copyright, tags, comments and sections. Unrecognised directives are ignored.
  • Plain-text charts: chords-over-lyrics is read into a chart. Check that chords sit over the right syllables.
  • Scanned PDFs: a scan has no text, so it can’t be converted and is kept as a PDF.
  • Not carried over: setlists and annotations.
  • Check: details you typed into MobileSheets’ song editor, such as key or tempo, may not be in the exported file. Compare a few songs after import.

Features in MobileSheets that are not currently in Setliner™

  • PDF tools: cropping, page ordering, and making songs from a large PDF’s bookmarks or a CSV file.
  • An audio player for playing tracks alongside your scores. Setliner™ can add audio links to a song and opens them in the app you already use; it does not play tracks alongside a chart itself.
  • MIDI over USB or Bluetooth, to send commands to a keyboard or other gear with each score.
  • Book mode: two tablets connected over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth show two pages at once.
  • Built-in library sync between devices over Wi-Fi or the cloud, which keeps each musician’s annotations.

What you get in Setliner™

MobileSheets also has some of these, such as foot pedals, auto-scroll, annotations and page turns led by one tablet.

  • Windows, macOS, Linux and Android, with iPad coming.
  • Songs are files in a folder you choose, and the free app works offline. Put that folder in a sync service you already use, such as Google Drive or OneDrive, and your devices share one library, with no Setliner™ account needed. Setliner™ has no sync service of its own: sync depends on that service and your platform.
  • Back up and restore: Back up library in Settings saves your songs, setlists, marks, tags, play history and settings to one .slnbackup file, and Restore from backup shows what is inside before anything changes. Licenses are not included.
  • Bring charts in as ChordPro, plain text or PDF, or paste them in. Change the key or add a capo and every chord follows.
  • Tap any chord to see how to play it and hear how it sounds. Draw or write notes on a chart, as you would on paper.
  • Build a set for the night with each song’s own key and sequence. The chart can scroll by itself, or a foot pedal turns the page and moves you through the set.
  • Between gigs, a chord quiz, ear training and a metronome keep you sharp.
  • The free app needs no account, and its core features have no time limit. Optional extras are one-time purchases, each with a 90-day free trial: Chord Builder names the chord for a shape on piano or a 4- to 7-string instrument in any tuning; Linked devices let one device lead others on the same local network, so the page turns on each linked device (each device needs Linked devices: its own trial or purchase, or a team seat); Popout displays send lyrics to extra screens for the singers or the room, or chords to the band, on a computer; Custom Skins, ten included themes plus your own pictures; and Practice, which listens as you play guitar and marks the chords it hears on the chart (it does not scroll or turn pages; Windows, macOS, Linux and Android). Trials and purchases need a verified email and a connection to start, then a check-in at least every 90 days. Purchases are not available to buyers in the EEA or the UK.
  • Team bundles (5 or 10 Setliner Pro seats at a bulk price, bought once) include Teams at no extra charge, so a band or worship team can plan events, hand out roles and see who has said yes. The team service stores scheduling, not charts. Setliner Pro and the standard team bundles do not include Practice; bundles with Practice cost more (see Licensing and the prices).
